"I am originally from Riga, Latvia. I moved to Aarhus in 2014 right after high school. I want to study and have my higher education in Aarhus. I did it because I wanted to change the environment around me so to create new opportunities for myself.

It was a spontaneous decision which turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Now two and a half years later I have grown professionally and personally. I’d like to think that I am wiser and more ambitious than ever before. It was a big thing for me to lave my country behind because I didn’t really know what to expect. Extreme uncertainty and risk, that’s how I could describe moving here, but it paid off!

What I love about Aarhus is its ‘vibe’. It has a unique blueprint. If there is a thing as the ‘perfect size city’, Aarhus, for sure, represents that. Everything is within a reach of a bike ride and at the same time big enough to discover new and amazing places every day. Aarhus is an environment and progress oriented city built for people, that’s what it is. I wouldn’t change a thing about Aarhus.

Therefore I am excited to see the upcoming changes. It is going to be completely different city in 10 years but I hope it will be able to keep the same ’spirit’.

In the next few years I plan to take more risks as I did when I moved here. In my life I like to go with the flow therefore I can’t say that I am going to spend the rest of my life here but what I know for sure is that Aarhus will always be special to me – a game changer."
