2016 has been tough, difficult, hard, destructive in many different ways, you can pick a variety of atrocities and extremely worrying news, it has been frustrating, equally terrifying and overwhelming to know that we are absolutely careless about the state of things in this planet.
Today marks a ‘leap of faith’ for me. Eric Ries has made this term extremely popular among a certain kind of individuals, people that think the job market insecurity and this level of uncertainty in the air may be leading us towards a completely different type of society.
I for one believe the present may require something else, however late. I only realized recently that perhaps is not all about the future, perhaps the now is what is most important, the now is what we live.
The people that we meet along the way, every day. That's what counts. Every minute of our lives will be influenced by our surroundings and our surroundings are simply nothing without people. In other words, we will only change tomorrow with the actions we take today in collaboration with people, an effort without the ultimate goal of improving the live of others is, simply put, meaningless.
Perhaps is time to think about self-development and being sustainable, perhaps our activity should focus in personal growth. I try to prove my assumptions wrong or right, specially while interacting with people with a different truth, and often times I have to shake my own believes in order to do so.
We’re here, to find our own sense of existence and we are much better at that when we don't stop asking questions, challenging authority and the status quo, seeking understanding.
